Privacy policy
What personal data WatchNetwork collects, why, and your rights.
Who we are
WatchNetwork, the data controller for this website. Contact us about privacy at hello@watchnetwork.global.
What we collect and why
- Visiting the site. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs (your IP address, browser and the pages requested) to keep the site secure and working. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
- Analytics, only if you agree. If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read, from which kinds of device and roughly where. It sets cookies on your device. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
- Emails you send us. We use your email address and message to reply, and keep them only as long as needed for that.
- Our social media accounts. If you comment on or react to our posts on Instagram, Facebook or YouTube, we may look at those comments to understand which stories interest people. Anything we publish from them is a total or a paraphrased theme, never a name or username. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding our audience. The platforms' own privacy policies cover what they do with your data.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run the site: our hosting provider (Render) and, if you consent to analytics, Google. Both may process data outside the UK under recognised safeguards for international transfers. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider. Analytics data is kept for 14 months. Emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with them.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive a copy of it. Email us to do so. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Without your consent we set no cookies. Your choice about analytics is remembered in your browser so we don't ask again. If you accept, Google Analytics sets its cookies (named _ga and _ga_*).
